        Behaviour Policy and Procedures of the School

Introduction

The Behavior Policy reflects the Mission and Vision of the school. "BFIS envisages to provide accessible, affordable and progressive educational environment that nurtures passion for learning, desire for advancement and sense of responsibility towards society.  "

 

We believe that rewarding good behavior and providing encouragement promotes a climate of consideration for others and encourages good behavior rather than merely deterring anti-social behavior.

Student’s Discipline Rules and Code of Conduct

 

Bright Future International School (BFIS) aims to promote high standards of discipline and conduct through learning and positive encouragement to achieve an ambient and conducive learning environment. We believe in correction through counseling and personal attention towards the students.

 

Following will be considered as violation of school discipline conduct.

 

  • Late arrival to the school.

 

  • Improper haircut and school uniform.

 

  • Running, playing or shouting in the classes and corridors.

 

  • Leaving the school premises during school hours without getting permission from Principal /Vice Principal or Coordinator.

 

  • Bunking/leaving the class without the permission of teacher.

 

  • Not attending the morning assembly.

 

  • Any sort of literature in whatsoever form, other than the prescribed text books or library is not allowed inside the school.

 

  • Fighting, pushing, kicking, hitting, punching, slapping or any form of violence.

 

  • Bullying such as name-calling, teasing, threats and sarcasm.

 

  • Use of vernacular/ native language other than English.

 

  • Bringing any electronic devices like camera, audio/video players and mobile phones etc.

 

  • Wearing heels, jewelry, bangles, earrings, fancy accessories and other ornaments.

 

  • Use of nail polish and lipstick or any other makeup material.

 

  • Wearing cap, hat, unauthorized belt, bandana, boots and other fancy accessories.

 

  • Misuse of internet, such as nasty and/or threatening emails, misuse of blogs, gaming websites, internet chat rooms and instant messaging, Mobile threats by text message & calls.

 

  • Any damage to the school property.

 

  • Students should not litter around and dispose waste in the dust bins.

 

  • Disrespect and disobedience to the teachers/superiors.

 

  • Use of foul / abusive language or any kind of misbehavior.

 

  • Carrying knives, scissors, any other sharp tool, lighters, cigarettes, perfumes, hair gels.

 

  • Bringing any expensive item or large amount of money to the school.

 

  • Any kind of disturbance and violence in the school transport bus.

 

  • Smoking in the school.

 

  • Cheating in the examination.

 

  • Students are hereby directed once again to wear the prescribed school uniform when reporting to school. In order to avoid any inconvenience, please ensure that students come to school in proper attire (Tie for boys, Black formal shoes and proper haircut- long hair are not allowed)
  • For girls (White Shalwar or white trouser but no jeans and tights) please note that only black jacket/black sweater is allowed. Only black Abayas are allowed.
  • School reserves the right to send your child back in case of wearing improper school uniform.
  • Note: Discipline committee reserves all the rights to confiscate the wrong Uniform (Colorful Jackets etc.)
  • Students who don’t wear the proper school uniform will be send back to the home
  • Students are strictly prohibited to bring mobile phones / any electronic gadgets in school. Mobile phones will be confiscated from the students and will not be returned until the parents visit school and sign the undertaking.
  • School Reporting Time is 06:50 a.m
  • In case of emergency or unavoidable circumstances student will not be allowed to enter

the school premises after 7:30 a.m.

  • School reserve the rights to send back the students if a student arrives the school after

7:30 a.m.

  • In case of non-compliance, the School reserves all the rights to take strict disciplinary action (including suspension and termination) against the student who violates the rules and regulation of the school.

 

Procedure / Mechanism of Disciplinary Action

 

Any of above mentioned violations will be subject to one of the following disciplinary action depending on nature and frequency of violation.

 

  1. Verbal consultation

 

  1. Written caution

 

  1. Written warning

 

  1. Suspension for maximum three days

 

  1. Repeated suspension for maximum three days.

 

  1. Advance termination notice

 

  1. Immediate termination

 

  1. In case of any damage to school property , the student is liable to pay the damages which include the cost of item, repairing, transport or any other cost involve.

 

Code of Conduct for Parents and Guardians

 

The purpose of this code of conduct is to provide guidelines to all parents, guardians and visitors to BFIS, about expected conduct. This is so we can continue to progress and achieve an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

 

Expectations with regards to parents/guardians:

 

We expect parents, guardians and visitors to:

 

  1. Treat all members of the school community with respect and set a good example in their own speech and behavior.
  2. Clarify a child’s version of events with a teacher, in order to bring about a peaceful solution to any issue.
  3. Correct their child’s behavior appropriately, where it could lead to conflict, aggressive behavior or unsafe behavior.

 

BFIS will not accept parents, carers and visitors exhibiting the following:

 

  1. Disruptive behavior which interferes or threatens to interfere with the operation of a classroom, staff work area or any other area of the school grounds.

 

  1. The use of loud or offensive language or displaying temper.

 

  1. BFIS reserved its right to take a necessary serious action against anyone who will blame or misbehave with any staff member of BFIS.

 

  1. Threatening to, or cause actual bodily harm to any member of our school community, that includes all staff, parents or pupils, regardless of the reason.

 

 

 

  1. Damaging or destroying school property.

 

  1. Sending abusive or threatening emails, texts or letters. Writing defamatory, offensive or derogatory comments about the school, pupils, parents or staff on social network sites. Any concerns should be communicated through the appropriate channels. In the event that any parent / career is found to be posting libelous or defamatory comments on social network sites, the school will impose sanctions which may include blocking your child’s re-enrolment.

 

  1. Approaching a child in order to chastise them, because of alleged actions of this child. Such an approach to a child may be considered an assault and may have legal consequences.

 

  1. Should any of the above behavior occur on school premises, BFIS may consider it necessary to contact the police and if necessary ban the person from entering the school grounds. We trust that parents and guardians will assist BFIS with the implementation of this code of conduct and we thank you for your continuing support. Please make all persons responsible for collecting children, aware of this code of conduct.

 

  1. Parents, carers and visitors must drop their wards not 15 minutes before the start time of the school. BFIS is not responsible of any mishap if child will come before 15 minutes.
  2. Parents, carers and visitors must be present at the school premises to pick their ward 15 minutes before leaving time. BFIS will not be responsible of any mishap after the leaving time of the school.

 

  1. Bus attended of private bus must pick and drop the student at the school Main Gate. BFIS will not be responsible of any mishap with students.

 

  1. Students must leave the school premises after 15 minutes of leaving time. BFIS will not bear any responsibility if any mishap with the students outside the school premises. In case of emergency, parents must contact with school management to inform their late arrival to pick their ward. 
  2. Parents should pay the fee of their wards as per the given schedule, otherwise school reserves the right to cancel the enrollment.
  3. BFIS reserves the rights to refuse the admissions of any applicant.

Types Of Assessment

 

At BFIS, we recognize that assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning, as it identifies what pupils already know and what their next steps should be. It is used to guide future planning, teaching and curriculum development, whilst informing parents of pupil achievement.

  • Class/ End of units Tests
  • Mid-Term Examination (Terms 1 & 2)
  • End of term examination (Terms 1 & 2)
  • External Examination (Federal & Edexcel Boards)

 

Formative assessments are done on regular basis as teachers observe, monitor and give quality feedback to the students to help them improve their work. End of term summative assessments measure and evaluate the depth of understanding a student has. Students of Matric and FSc are assessed externally by Federal Board Pakistan, whereas IGCSE and IAL students are assessed by Pearson, U.K. In addition to these, the students at BFIS take PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS exams as well.

 

 Reports

Monthly and Terminal Reports promote and provide:

  • Information for parents
  • Child’s academic achievements
  • Information for the child’s next phase in education
  • An opportunity for further discussion with parents
  • Information for outside agencies
  • Targets for the children

Terminal reports are sent to the parents twice a year. Whereas, formative assessments reports are sent at the end of every month. Reports outline a child’s progress in the core and foundation subjects of the School Curriculum. BFIS aims to have no surprises in the report, as parents are kept regularly informed of progress and any behavioral issues through monthly reports.

 

Overall Assessment (KG & 1-10-IGCSE)

 

Kindergarten assessment is based on the day-to-day performance of the child. A record of individual student attainment and progress is maintained through an on-going system of spaced oral and written activities and parents are regularly apprised of the same. Students progress is tracked on a regular basis.

For 1 to 10 IGCSE there will be TWO term examinations. Academic achievements reports are prepared on the basis of formative & summative assessments which include MCQs, Skills, Class activities & tests, Projects and terminal exams.

Formative and Summative Assessments are conducted to evaluate the teaching learning process.

Formative Assessments – Students are assessed on the basis of Class Participation, Homework, Notebook Maintenance, and Term Project

Summative Assessment – Students are assessed on scheduled written examination conducted in each term

 

Criteria for assessment

The examination / assessment system for the current academic session 2021-22 is

Break Down of Each Term Percentage:

 

Summative Assessment: 70% (Term Exam)

Formative Assessment: 30% (Homework 10%, Mid Term Test 10%, Term Project10%)

Graded Subjects:

Urdu, Geography and Arabic will be awarded grades in the result card.

  

Overall Assessment (9-13)


Internal Exams
All students of Pakistani stream from years 9 to 12 and students of British stream from years 9 to 13 are assessed internally in two terminal exams. There is formative assessment for these classes but the weightage of these formative assessments is not included in the terminal results.

 

External Exams
9-10 Matric and 11-12 FSc are assessed externally for their final exams by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Islamabad. Only the students passing internal exams at this level can qualify for the external exams otherwise they are detained in the same class. To get promotion to next class, the students are required to pass External Exams by Federal Board.

 

Pearson External Tests

BFIS conducts external tests at the end of year 6 and year 9 as part of an external examination in conjunction with Pearson Edexcel Board. The aim of Pearson external tests is to provide a cumulative measure of performance at the end of the primary learning phase identify students’ strengths and weaknesses from test-result analysis provide a statement of achievement for all students.

 

 

RETENTION/ WITH-HOLDING ADMISSION

 

The school may not forward the external examination form of any child who;

  • fails to pass internal examination with required percentage (50%), the school reserves the right to withhold students’ admission form to the Federal board.
  • is found using unfair means during internal examination.
  • in order to get promoted to the next level, passing external examination from Federal Board is compulsory.

 


In British stream, year 11 students appear in Pearson IGCSE exams whereas year 12 students take IAS and year 13 students take IAL exams by Pearson, UK. Only the students passing internal exams at this level can qualify for the external exams otherwise they are detained in the same class. To get promotion to next class, the students are required to pass External Exams by Pearson UK.

PROMOTION POLICY


In consonance with the Ministry of Education requirements, following promotion policy is recommended for promulgation at this institution.

1. A student securing at least 50% in each subject and 50% in aggregate will be promoted to next class.
2. A student must maintain 80% attendance to be eligible to sit in the final exam.
3. Students failing even in one subject are asked to repeat the class.
4. No Retest in any circumstances is conducted for any missed/failed exam by the student.
5. Students must appear in all subjects to qualify for the final exam. No leave is allowed in the exams. Medical leave only on the basis of provision of Medical Certificate from Hamad Hospital is accepted and Academic council decides to grant leave or not.
6. The student missing any term due to approved medical leave as per policy, the following terms are given 50% weightage.

The admission is given on First Come First Serve basis and is based on the performance in the entrance test. For Admission to a certain class, a student must be studying in that class or should have passed the prior class. Students, who are admitted during an academic session will be required to pay the tuition fee with effect from the month in which the admission is processed. Students given conditional admission can be asked to leave the school if they are unable to achieve required academic standards or pass in the following Term Exam.

The opening date for admissions is announced at the website. New students join classes at the start of the new academic session. The school administration reserves the right to refuse admission to any candidate without giving reason.

 

 

ADMISSION PROCEDURES FLOW CHART

Step 1. Online Registration through school website www.bfis.qa  

Step 2. Non-refundable admission test / interview fee to be submitted in the accounts section.   

Step 3. Exam cell issues the date of admission test and conducts test according to the following:

  • Last Class Attended.
  • Age described by Ministry of Education & Higher Education, Qatar.

Step 4. Results of the admission tests will be communicated to the parents through an email.

Step 5. If a child is selected, parents will submit the necessary documents to process admission formalities.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

KINDERGARTEN

For kindergarten classes, an informal individual assessment is done. Generally, vocabulary, concepts of colours, numbers, confidence level, level of spoken and understanding English and motor skills are assessed.

FROM YEAR 1 - 10

Applicants for Year 1-10 are required to sit in a written test in three subjects i.e. English, Science, and Mathematics. The pass percentage is 50%. The test papers are not set from any particular textbook or syllabus but are of a general nature, designed to assess the attainment level of the applicant according to his/her class last attended in the previous institution.

 

FROM YEAR 11-13

  • Admission is granted in the years 11-13 on the basis of the students’ performance in external exams for the previous class. The minimum requirement is 50% for FBISE classes and minimum of ‘C’ Grade for IGCSE / AS & A Level, however the school academic council reserves the right to accept or deny any admission request.
  • No candidate for admission at this Institution at any level will be entertained without residence permit / Qatar ID.
  • The age bracket identified by Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar will be  

            strictly adhered to.

  • Merit set for admission in Edexcel, UK/ FBISE, Federal Board, Pakistan classes will be

           followed.

  • The cutting dates set for admission by Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar will be strictly adhered to.

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION

Admission remains provisional and is not confirmed unless the following documents are produced:

  • photocopy of Birth Certificate
  • four passport-size photographs (for the school identity card and personal file).
  • report Card and School Leaving Certificate from the previous school (if any).
  • photocopy of Parents and Child’s valid passport.
  • parent QID photocopy.
  • student QID /Residency Visa copy.
  • letter of employment from Child’s sponsors workplace
  • immunization card (Only for KG 1- year 3)
  • copy of receipt for payment of Admission Fee Bill and allied charges.

ADMISSION CONFIRMATION

The admission confirmation will be granted after the payment of the relevant fees to the accounts office. Further to it, the Exam office will allot the section for the respective class.

  • Age restriction set by Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar

SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE

The Parents / Guardian may withdraw their ward from the school at any time. Parents are required to submit an application for withdrawal via a written application one month before the desired date of withdrawal i.e. they must give one month notice in writing. A school-leaving certificate is issued after all the school dues have been paid along with necessary clearance from relevant departments.  It will be given along with the security refund to the parents by the Accounts Office. Outstanding fees if any will be deducted from the security deposit. If withdrawal is made after the 10th of the month, then the fees are payable for the whole of month.

If a student takes admission but does not attend the school even for a single day, and applies for withdrawal within a week time, the school will refund only the security deposit but the tuition fee and allied charges will not be refunded. The students withdrawn on completion of an academic session, with or without notice, are liable to pay the fee for the whole of that academic year i.e. 12 months, even if he /she does not take examination. Once the formalities and adjustment of the outstanding dues have been completed, the balance of the security deposit is refunded by cheque made payable to the father or mother. If the third party wishes to collect the cheque on behalf of the parents, a letter of authorization signed by the parents is required, and the deputed person must present his or her identity card.
